You guys are great!» -- Michael Gordon :: KYMATIC is an ensemble that explores and develops the multimedia and inter-disciplinary trends in modern music. It is a collective of young intellectuals, professionally trained musicians-improvisers experienced in contemporary and historical performance practice, combining the sound of contemporary, baroque and historical ethnic instruments with newest multimedia technologies, they exist beyond any commercial or institutional context and move intuitively between different fields of art, performing avant-garde scores, free improvisation, electroacoustic music along with obscure «outsider» works; the ensemble collaborates frequently with film directors, video artists, composers, choreographers, programmers. The repertoire of KYMATIC ensemble includes famous avant-garde pieces of XX-XXI centuries, contemporary composers' works and baroque music -- our knowledge of baroque phrasing is used extensively in emphasis to reveal the previously unseen connections between cutting-edge contemporary works and the greatest works of the past.
